Why go

Why Babadağ belongs on your list

Babadağ ("Father Mountain") climbs from sea level to 1,969 metres in just a few kilometres. Stand on top and the whole coast is laid out below you: the Blue Lagoon, the beach at Ölüdeniz, the Gulf of Fethiye and range after range of mountains.

That steep drop and the reliable sea breeze make it one of the best paragliding sites in the world. There are launches at 1,200, 1,700, 1,800, 1,900 and 1,965 metres, and on a busy summer day the sky above Ölüdeniz is full of colourful wings.

You don't have to fly to enjoy it. A modern cable car now carries visitors up the mountain, and the upper stations have cafés and terraces where you can watch the paragliders take off at eye level.

  2. Ride the cable car

A scenic ride up the mountain with the lagoon getting smaller beneath you. Our transfer package takes care of the logistics.

    Cable car + transfer
  3. Watch the launches

Grab a coffee on a summit terrace and watch pilots run off the edge, one after another.

  4. Catch the sunset

On clear evenings the sun drops into the sea beside the islands. It gets cold quickly, so bring a layer.

How to get to Babadağ

  • Cable car

The Babadağ cable car runs up the mountain from its lower station near Ölüdeniz. Check the operator's site for hours and tickets, or book our ticket-and-transfer package.

  • 4x4 road

A rough mountain road climbs to the launch sites. It is used by the paragliding shuttles and is not suitable for normal rental cars.

  • With paragliding

If you book a tandem flight, the ride up is part of the experience. You fly back down.

Local tips

  • It can be 10–15 °C cooler at the top than on the beach. Bring a jacket, even in summer.
  • Go in the morning for the clearest air. Afternoon haze can soften the view.
  • Strong wind can pause both paragliding and the cable car, so keep your plans flexible.
