Horse riding is one of the gentlest ways to see the countryside around Fethiye. Our partner stable sits in the pine forest near Hisarönü and has a small, dedicated team who look after the horses and clean the stables every day.
There are two routes. One climbs through the forest to viewpoints over Fethiye and the sea; the other starts from the pasture at Hisarönü and heads to Kayaköy, the abandoned stone village on the hillside. Rides last about two hours. The guide starts beginners with mounting, balance and steering, and if the group is confident you can trot on the open stretches.
In July and August the morning and sunset rides are the most comfortable. Sunset is the favourite, with the light going gold over the hills.
Shaded pine forest paths that climb to wide views over Fethiye and the bay.
Through the valley to the ghost village of Kayaköy and its hundreds of roofless stone houses.
The evening departure, timed so you are on the hill as the sun goes down.
